Austin CyberKnife Participates in the Sun City Health Fair

For the third year in a row, Austin CyberKnife participated in the biannual Sun City Health Fair.

Sun City is a community of active seniors in Georgetown, Texas.  The community has more than 12,000 residents with a strong appetite for active living.  They are youthful in spirit and attitude and are committed to staying physically and intellectually healthy.  As so, the community holds health fairs and invites health care providers from the area to exhibit and provide information to their community.

At this year’s fair, health care experts gave seminars on several topics, including hearing loss, eye surgery, treatment options for chronic pain, etc.

Matthew McCurdy, M.D., radiation oncologist with Austin CyberKnife, delivered a presentation titled “Know Your Options:  Advances in the Treatment of Issues of the Prostate.”  Men and women packed the room to hear about the latest developments in men’s health.  Dr. McCurdy also included information on integrative medicine and cancer care.

In addition to Dr. McCurdy’s presentation, Austin CyberKnife had a table where seniors could learn about different types of cancer including prostate, brain, and lung.

The health fair was a success, with over 500 seniors and their families attending.  Austin CyberKnife was proud to be part of an event that helps keep seniors in our communities healthy and we look forward to participating in future health fairs with Sun City!
