Dr. Ghafoori’s interest in oncology began while earning a molecular biology degree from the University of Colorado at Boulder, graduating summa cum laude. He attended Harvard Medical School and completed residency training at Duke University Medical Center, where he served as Chief Resident and later on faculty as an assistant professor. He has a particular interest in the use of brain and body stereotactic radiosurgery to treat patients with both malignant and benign conditions.
A member of the American College of Radiology Appropriateness Criteria Expert Panel on Brain Metastases, Dr. Ghafoori has received numerous awards and research grants from national institutions, including the National Institutes of Health, American Society of Clinical Oncology, and the Radiological Society of North America.
With several publications to his credit, Dr. Ghafoori is board-certified in radiation oncology. His professional memberships include the American Society for Radiation Oncology, the American Society of Clinical Oncology, and the American College of Radiology.
