Telehealth and You

As more people become vaccinated, we are seeing the number of positive COVID-19 cases decline and more businesses and offices open up to in-person appointments.  For some patients though, especially those who are chronically ill, pregnant, elderly, or immunocompromised, there is still a concern about the transmission of COVID-19, as well as the spread of other infectious diseases like the flu.  Fortunately, for these patients, Austin CyberKnife continues to offer telehealth appointments.

Our highest priority at Austin CyberKnife is to keep all of our patients and staff protected, while not wavering on our commitment to providing patients with safe, high-quality, and comprehensive treatment services.  Our center is following all recommended guidance from public health authorities, including best practices for hygiene and infection control, as well as staying on top of the latest COVID-related guidelines, including those from the CDC.  Our center also offers telehealth services as another option to support our patients virtually.

Telehealth, or telemedicine, is the use of electronic information and telecommunication technologies to provide care when you and the doctor are not in the same place at the same time.  You get the pre-and post-treatment care you need, from the comfort and safety of your own home.  If you have a device with internet access, you already have everything you need to get medical care or services through telehealth.  Using our secure, HIPAA-compliant platform, we are able to:

– Conduct safe and effective consultations

– Provide follow-up appointments

– Answer any questions or concerns

In addition to receiving care at home to limit exposure to illness, telehealth offers many other advantages.  Some benefits include:

– No travel time or time spent sitting in a waiting room

– No traveling in bad weather

– No need to take time off from work or get child care for an appointment

– Can have a family member (no matter where they live) virtually with you to help ask questions and take note of your doctor’s answers

If you have any questions about telehealth or would like more information about setting an appointment up, please do not hesitate to contact us for help.
