Determining a diagnosis and seeking treatment are important steps in the process of healing, but support from friends and loved ones can have the biggest impact on a patient’s quality of life.
Living With TN is an online support group for trigeminal neuralgia (TN) patients with the mission to be a resource for “information, discussion, venting and mutual support” for patients suffering from facial pain. The group was created by Ben’s Friends, a network of patient support communities for people living with rare diseases.
On the site, TN patients and their families can offer and receive virtual support by providing insights and personal stories on their experience with TN. Members can host discussions on various aspects of coping with trigeminal neuralgia and on treatment. Doctors also periodically weigh in on issues or participate in Q&A chats.
The support group also provides a number of reference materials for patients including links to medical forums, open clinical trials and listings of doctors with experience treating TN. The site also features fact sheets on trigeminal neuralgia and a glossary of relevant medical terms.
