Cindy Gall, Physician Service Representative, at Austin CyberKnife recently spoke to a group of students from the Health Occupations Students of America (HOSA) organization at Round Rock High School.
HOSA is an international student organization recognized by the U.S. Department of Education and its mission is to promote career opportunities in the healthcare industry and to enhance the delivery of quality health care to all people.
The organization provides a unique program of leadership development, motivation, and recognition exclusively for secondary, postsecondary, adult, and collegiate students enrolled in health science education and biomedical science programs or have interests in pursuing careers in health professions. Since its inception in 1976, HOSA has grown steadily reaching over 200,000 members through 51 chartered HOSA Associations and is now the largest student organization which prepares students to enter the healthcare field.
The topic of Cindy’s presentation was “Healthcare Occupations: Career Paths Outside of Patient Care” and the focus of the discussion was around the business of medicine.
Students were exposed to various options such as Medical Marketing, Pharmaceutical and Device Sales, and other occupations. Several students were surprised to learn about all of the careers available in business, marketing, and even physics.
Cindy and Austin CyberKnife were proud to be a part of a HOSA meeting and thankful for the opportunity to speak to students in our communities that are interested in career opportunities in the health care industry.
