Did you know that lung cancer is the leading cause of cancer deaths in Texas and that, according to the American Cancer Society, almost 15,000 Texans will be newly diagnosed with lung cancer in 2020? If you didn’t know that, you’re not alone.
November is Lung Cancer Awareness month. Every year in November in the United States, health experts, advocates, survivors, and their loved ones come together to help increase lung cancer awareness, including its prevalence, approaches to screening and prevention, treatment options, and resources that offer support to those impacted by this disease. In honor of Lung Cancer Awareness month, watch Austin CyberKnife radiation oncologist Stephen Brown, M.D. answer questions about lung cancer, including what is lung cancer and how it is staged, what is metastatic or recurrent lung cancer, how the disease is treated by the CyberKnife System, and what our team is doing to keep patients safe and on track with their treatments during COVID-19.
